Orange County Commission Candidate Receives Unprecedented Showing of Support

“To understand the issues we face and the things we value, one must be an active part of the community. I think that is why we are seeing such a strong showing of support by so many right now. We are excited and ready to bring great representation back to the West of the county. We intend to focus on local issues that matter and commonsense solutions that work. We will not be focusing on divisive national political issues that have no relevance to the commission. Everyone has a home in this campaign, and all are invited, I hope anyone interested in learning more will come visit with us Tuesday night,” stated Arthur. 

Over 150 guests have already RSVP’d to the event which will be held in the heart of downtown Winter Garden, Fl. The hosting committee for the campaign kickoff includes many prominent community leaders such as prominent Bloom and Grow Society member Gretchen Boyd, Horizon West resident and founder of Legacy Events for Education David Terry, Winter Garden Businessman Charlie Roper, and a myriad of local elected officials from commissioners in Winter Garden to Oakland, Winter Garden Mayor John Rees, OCPS School Board Member Alicia Farrant, state representatives, State Senator Dennis Baxley,  all the way up to the U.S. Congressman whose district covers all of West Orange County, Congressman Daniel Webster.

The campaign kickoff is to be held on Tuesday February 28th, at 5:30PM in Downtown Winter Garden at Pilars Loft, it is open to the public.

Arthur was a firefighter paramedic prior to becoming a successful business owner in West Orange County. Along with his brother Zander Arthur, he opened Stars and Stripes Management Systems in 2012, a digital marketing and website design company located next to the West Orange Chamber of Commerce. In 2014 they opened the successful Gymnastics USA in Winter Garden, the largest gymnastics center in the state of Florida. A faith filled promoter of family and community values, he has been active in West Orange County for some time, writing for several local publications about West Orange, hosting a video series about West Orange called After Thought, and doing an editorial styled podcast for the West Orange Times and Observer. He and his wife live in Winter Garden with their three young children.

Austin Arthur works heavily in the community and serves on many boards such as the City of Winter Garden’s Architectural Review and Historical Preservation Board, West Orange Habitat for Humanity, Eight Waves Children & Family Services, Challenge 22 Veteran Suicide Awareness, Winter Garden Rotary Club, The West Orange Scholarship Foundation, One Winter Garden, and others. He is also a past board member of the West Orange Political Alliance and is an active supporter of both the Lift Disability Network and Friends of Lake Apopka.

On February 1st, 2023 Arthur filed with the Orange County Supervisor of Elections office as an official candidate for the 2024 election for Orange County Commissioner in District 01. Arthur is the only challenger currently in the race hoping to unseat current commissioner, Nicole Wilson who is expected to likely run for another term.
